Bryce Young got a new number one receiver. Is it enough to make him draftable?

Bryce Young was once an afterthought, benched for Andy Dalton when he couldn't put drives together for the then-lowly Carolina Panthers. And by "once", I mean literally last season.

After the Andy Dalton experiment went nowhere, Bryce Young got what might be his final shot at being the long-term answer at quarterback, and he went on a tear down the stretch. In his final seven games of the 2024 season, he averaged 21.3 fantasy points per game, including an absolutely nuclear 36.4 fantasy points in week 18.

Those numbers are absurd, elite-level stuff, even for a small sample size.

Heading into 2025, the Panthers needed to bolster their offense to keep any momentum going, and they ended up doing just that - selecting Tetairoa McMillan with the eighth overall pick, giving him a true number one receiving option while keeping the core three receivers from last season - Adam Thielen, Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker - intact.

Now, do I think the ceiling for Bryce Young goes higher than that seven game stretch last season? Probably not. But it certainly raises the floor, and when you have access to a higher floor and the ceiling that we saw in this small sample size, you have to at least keep him on your radar as a QB2 option in your redraft league.
