Game Scripts

With a high over/under — 47.5 points, tied for the 3rd highest among all 14 games on the week 5 slate — and both teams sporting top 12 implied point totals of 22 points or more, Cowboys at Jets is shaping up to be a potential shootout with no shortage of touchdown opportunities or fantasy football fireworks. The Jets are entering week 5 as 2.5 point home underdogs with a decent implied point total of 22.5 points, tied for the 12th most among all 28 teams playing this week. The above-average implied point total suggests enough scoring opportunities to warrant serious consideration in your week 5 lineups.

The Cardinals are entering week 5 as confident 7.5 point home favorites with a strong implied point total of 25 points, tied for the 5th most among all 28 teams playing this week. The favorable spread suggests the Cardinals will be playing with a lead, positive game script that could result in elevated rushing volume — potentially at the expense of passing volume — as the Cardinals look to salt the clock away in the 2nd half. The strong implied point total, though, suggests plenty of touchdown opportunities and fantasy football fireworks. This is an offense you want exposure to in week 5.

Positional Matchups

After 4 games, the Cowboys are presenting a mouthwatering matchup for QBs, bleeding the most passing yards (they're the only defense in football allowing more than 300 passing yards per game), most passing touchdowns, 6th most rushing yards, 2nd most rushing touchdowns and most fantasy points per game — these guys are allowing 27.92 fantasy points per game!

After 4 games, the Titans present a slightly subpar matchup for QBs, allowing the 13th most passing yards but limiting QBs to the 16th fewest passing TDs, 8th fewest rushing yards, no rushing TDs and 10th fewest fantasy points per game (15.08).

Justin Fields: Bottom Line

Elite QB1 play in possible shootout and gorgeous matchup. Expect ~22–28 fantasy points on ~24–30 attempts (~200–240 yards, ~1–2 TD, ~0–1 INT) with ~50–80 rushing yards and ~0–1 rushing TD; Dallas’ defense has bled QB points, boosting spike-week odds.

Kyler Murray: Bottom Line

Fringe QB1/high-end QB2 with a sturdy rushing floor. Expect Kyler Murray ~16–20 fantasy points on ~30–34 pass attempts for ~190–230 yards, 1–2 passing TDs, 0–1 INT, and ~30–45 rushing yards; positive script may trim attempts, but red-zone efficiency and legs keep the ceiling viable.

Should you start Justin Fields or Kyler Murray?

I don't think there'll be a better spot this season to start Justin Fields than this one. The rushing keeps his floor high and the matchup sends his ceiling through the roof.
