NFL DFS: Week 11 Review (DraftKings)

Looking back at Week 11

Back to winning ways. I was riding the bubble in cash most of the day, but some late snags by Davante Adams pushed me over the top. No luck in GPPs, although I really took some chances this week that were suboptimal - but unique. Let's get to it.

My GPP lineups

My three stacks this week were:

  • A very unusual (at least for me) 3-1 Washington Football Team stack (Alex Smith + JD McKissic + Terry McLaurin with a Tyler Boyd runback). More on this lineup in a bit, as it was my highest performing lineup.

  • A Cowboys 3-1 stack (Andy Dalton + Amari Cooper + CeeDee Lamb with a Dalvin Cook runback).

  • A Falcons 3-1 stack (Matt Ryan + Calvin Ridley + Austin Hooper with an Alvin Kamara runback). I should've known better.

Here was the full lineup from the Washington stack:

  • QB: Alex Smith ($5300 - 5.76% owned - 9.34 points)

  • RB: Dalvin Cook ($9000 - 39.85% owned - 29 points)

  • RB: JD McKissic ($5200 - 7.34% owned - 9.9 points)

  • WR: Terry McLaurin ($6900 - 20.36% owned - 13.4 points)

  • WR: Tyler Boyd ($5600 - 7.92% owned - 17.5 points)

  • WR: Jakobi Meyers ($4900 - 24.2% owned - 6.8 points)

  • WR - Flex: Keenan Allen ($7400 - 24.76% owned - 38.5 points)

  • TE: Dalton Schultz ($3600 - 3.12% owned - 12.5 points)

  • DEF: Jaguars ($2100 - 1.27% owned - 2 points)

I mentioned that this lineup was very unusual, and it was - and in hindsight, I shouldn't have done it this way. It's unusual because in 99.9% of cases, playing at running back as part of the primary stack portion is suboptimal; if they run the ball in, it negatively impacts the receiver and the quarterback. And this appeared to be the 0.1% of occasions, but still - why didn't I just run this as a 2-1 stack and play a running back that was more likely to have volume at that price? Obviously Jakobi Meyers didn't come through, which, fine, but that addition of JD McKissic is just glaring me in the face as the mistake that cost this lineup.

Total points: 138.94

Cashing line: 147.82

My Cash lineup

QB: Taysom Hill ($4800 - 31.85% owned - 25.42 points)

RB: Dalvin Cook (60.4% owned)

RB: Kalen Ballage ($5600 - 24.77% owned - 14.1 points)

RB - Flex: Adrian Peterson ($4000 - 16.49% owned - 1.8 points)

WR: Terry McLaurin (26.86% owned)

WR: Davante Adams ($8600 - 16.97% owned - 26.6 points)

WR: Jakobi Meyers (45.89% owned)

TE: Dalton Schultz (2.01% owned)

DEF: Broncos ($2400 - 7.74% owned - 12 points)

What the hell is Adrian Peterson doing in my cash lineup?

Total points: 141.62

Cashing line: 140.94

Players from last week's picks that didn't end up in my lineups

  • QB: Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Newton, Carson Wentz, Joe Burrow: First off, that Joe Burrow injury was horrific. I feel bad for him. He was making some real strides as a rookie, and now the team will probably just tank the rest of the way. In this case I just really ran out of lineups, per usual - I ended up on Andy Dalton because I figured nobody would play him, but that's the only guy not listed that I played.

  • RB: Antonio Gibson, Ezekiel Elliott, Giovani Bernard, Nyheim Hines: What a weird week for running backs. Gio got a concussion, Nyheim was non-existent, so I personally ended up being okay not having them (sorry if you played them...) I ended up playing McKissic but no Gibson, primarily because I ended up on Kalen Ballage a lot in that same range (but you're welcome if you played him!) And I was going to play Zeke if I did not play the passing game just because I figured he would also be low owned, but I played the passing game.

  • TE: TJ Hockenson, Eric Ebron: I didn't play any stacks of either of these teams, so I didn't end up on them.
