Game Scripts

The Saints are entering this game as slim 2-point road favorites with a subpar projected team total of 21.0 points, the 16th fewest among all 32 teams on the week 17 slate. The narrow spread suggests a balanced offensive approach while the subpar projected team total suggests limited touchdown opportunities.

The Patriots are entering this game as dominant 13-point road favorites with a dominant projected team total of 28.0 points, the 4th highest among all 32 teams on the week 17 slate. The dominant spread suggests a very run-heavy approach while the dominant projected team total suggests endless touchdown opportunities.

Positional Matchups

Taysom Hill's "position" is not having one. Down Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, Devin Neal, Devaughn Vele, and more, Taysom Hill was a big part of the Saints' game plan in week 16, rushing 12 times for 42 yards, catching 4 of 6 targets for 36 yards, and completing his only pass attempt for a 38 yard touchdown strike to Chris Olave (16.3 PPR points). His versatility and the opportunity before him against a mediocre Titans team leads to upside.

The Jets present a mediocre matchup for TEs, limiting them to the 16th fewest yards while allowing the 15th most catches, 10th most touchdowns and 13th most PPR points per game. 7 TEs in 15 games have scored 10+ PPR points against the Jets. Notably, Hunter Henry was not among them in their first matchup.

Taysom Hill: Bottom Line

I expect Taysom Hill to finish, on average, around 9–14 PPR points on a messy “TE” usage cocktail of ~8–12 rushing attempts, ~2–5 targets, ~50–85 total yards, and 0–1 total TD upside in a subpar-total road spot where New Orleans may lean on him again with so many weapons missing. He's immediately on the boom-or-bust "TE" streaming radar.

Hunter Henry: Bottom Line

I expect Hunter Henry to finish, on average, around 9–13 PPR points on ~5–7 targets, ~3–5 catches, ~35–55 yards, and 0–1 TD in a high-scoring spot where passing volume could still be capped by blowout risk. He's a boom-or-bust, high(ish) end TE 2.

Should you start Taysom Hill or Hunter Henry?

Taysom Hill certainly didn't get you to the finals, but he could help you win one. There's usually a ton of volatility, but the rushing role was back last week, raising his floor. If that sustains, you might as well take the risk, as the upside is immense.
