Happy first week of the fantasy playoffs to all who play season-long and best ball leagues! I'm thrilled to report that nearly half of my best ball teams on DraftKings are in a first-round pod against someone who had Kyle Pitts last night. Not great! But as always, this is a weekly refresh for us to just look at this in isolation and make the best decisions we can before they go out and play the games.
Here are my week 15 DraftKings DFS picks & fades that I'm considering for my lineups.
Week 15 DraftKings DFS Stack of the Week
Washington Commanders: QB Marcus Mariota ($5,000) + WR Terry McLaurin ($5,400) + TE Ben Sinnott ($2,700). Total salary: $13,100.
Any two pass-catcher combination of Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel and Ben Sinnott will work here, but we'll feature Terry & Sinnott for the sake of this write-up.
What should be the clear best game of the week (Lions at Rams, with a whopping 54.5 total) features so many expensive pieces that stacking it requires massive sacrifices elsewhere. That may be worth it, but you could go the cheaper route with your main stack and ensure you have at least a piece of that game alongside it and still get there. Playing Mariota and, specifically, Sinnott in this scenario achieves that goal.
On Sinnott: He's likely to split reps with John Bates now that Zach Ertz is injured, but with the Commanders out of the playoff hunt and Ertz potentially retiring rather than coming back from the injury, they should want to see what they have out of their young former second round pick. It's a gut call, but at a price that's just $200 above the minimum, including him in stacks feels like a gamble I want to take.
The Giants defense, like the Commanders, doesn't scare anyone, and there are a ton of bring-back options to have. This feels like the perfect game environment to attack.
Week 15 DraftKings DFS Picks
RB TreyVeyon Henderson, New England Patriots ($6,100)
Will the Patriots finally free TreyVeyon Henderson this week against the Bills run funnel defense? TreyVeyon handled the opportunity to shine in multiple spots over the past few weeks, including in week 12 when Rhamondre returned from injury, only to be thrust back into a split backfield last week, albeit in a blowout. With a first-round bye and the divisional title on the line, I'm banking on the Pats putting the best players out there as much as possible, and TreyVeyon is clearly the best back they have.
WR Nico Collins, Houston Texans ($6,700)
The Cardinals have been letting teams run up the score lately, and the way the Texans score points is by throwing the ball to Nico Collins. Outside of the game against the Bills, where the Texans beat the Bills by, you guessed it, running the football, Nico Collins has at least eight targets in every other game after their bye in week six. Five of those games were double-digit target games. It's too cheap for the volume and upside.
TE Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens ($3,400)
The Bengals have been legitimately been the best gift to a tight end that you could ever imaging - giving the most receptions, yards, and touchdowns to the position on a per-game basis. Isaiah Likely himself went 5/95 on this defense just two weeks ago, and I expect the Ravens to leverage a ton of two tight end sets throughout the game to exploit that weakness.
Week 15 DraftKings DFS Fades
RB Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts ($8,500)
Probably the most obvious fade when there are expensive plays elsewhere on the slate. With Fat Philip at QB (his admission, not mine!), it's likely going to be tough sledding for JT while the extremely good Seahawks defense jams eight in the box. Not worth the risk at the salary point.
TE Oronde Gadsden II, Los Angeles Chargers ($4,300)
The highs were high, but it's been back to Earth for Gadsden, who has just two catches (on six targets) for 34 scoreless yards in the two weeks since the bye. Now going up against a solid Chiefs defense, there are plenty of guys behind him in salary that offer nearly the same floor and possibly more upside this week.
