The playoffs are here, and with it, many short slates leading up to the Super Bowl.
I'll be covering the next two rounds of DFS slates before things get too short for me to continue in this format. We start with the largest of them all, six games on Wild Card weekend.
Here are my Wild Card DraftKings DFS picks, fades and stacks that I'm considering for my lineups.
Wild Card DraftKings DFS Stack of the Week
Buffalo Bills: QB Josh Allen ($7,000) + TE Dalton Kincaid ($3,800).
The Bills are somehow road favorites in this game, but I view it from the opposite lens - the Bills haven't looked dominant-good in a while, not since they beat up on the technically-a-playoff-team Panthers back in week 8. Meanwhile, the Jaguars have been rolling, including a double-digit win on the road against the #1 seed in the AFC and a 29 (!) point beatdown of the Chargers during this win streak.
As such, I think the script here leads to the Bills letting Josh Allen loose to do his best Superman impression. After all, the Jaguars are elite against the run, to the point that containing James Cook might actually be the game plan.
If that scenario happens, you're going to want to play the QB with the highest ceiling of anyone on the slate. I intend to do just that. Pair him with whomever.
Wild Card DraftKings DFS Picks
RB Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars ($6,600)
Running back is super deep this week - there's probably three or four guys that I think are all in great spots, to the point I'm likely going to play 3 RB builds primarily. But Travis Etienne Jr., on the flipside of that scenario above, stands out the most. He gets a defense that is one of the biggest run funnels in the league and is still likely to take the majority of carries here, even with Bhayshal Tuten easing back into the mix. Love the price for the ceiling here.
WR Devonta Smith, Philadelphia Eagles ($5,900)
The 49ers have been below average of late defensively. Short-term memory will get people thinking it was only against the run - after all, the Seahawks rand for 180 yards to clinch the NFC West against this team just last week - but the week prior saw Caleb Williams throw for over 300. They're giving up explosive plays at a high clip, and while Saquon is certainly in play, so are both of these wide receivers. I'll take the one that's cheaper and has been quieter of late and roll the dice there.
Wild Card DraftKings DFS Fades
RB Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers ($6,100)
What's the ceiling run-out here that justifies him being over $6,000? He's in the lowest total game and splitting snaps. Find the money to play someone above him - or take a chance on the favored Patriots guys right below him.
WR Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears ($5,800)
We all believe that Rome Odunze is going to play in this game because it's the playoffs. He certainly will try, but I'm not convinced that, as of this writing, he's going to play a full compliment of snaps. And yet he is, inexplicably, still the most expensive WR for the Bears. No thank you, I'll play the Bears receivers that actually will be on the field.
