Ashton Jeanty Rookie Profile

Ashton Jeanty — the 21 year old, 6th overall pick from Boise State — is the rare running back prospect who checks both the film and analytics boxes in a massive way. He’s a compact, powerful runner with exceptional vision, great contact balance, and a surprising burst that makes defenders miss even when they’re in the perfect position.

Despite being slightly shorter than typical workhorse backs, he has the bulk, pass protection skills, and athletic traits (22 MPH GPS speed, 600+ pound squat) to immediately handle a huge NFL workload. His landing spot (Las Vegas Raiders, 6th overall pick) confirms that teams saw the same superstar potential, and he'll play in a Pete Carroll offense that saw top 19 finishes from Marshawn Lynch (4), Chris Carson (3) and Kenneth Walker (2) in 9 of 14 seasons as the Seahawks Head Coach, including top 6 finishes for Lynch in 4 of them.

Bottom line: Jeanty is a plug-and-play, three-down NFL back with an extremely high floor and a truly elite ceiling — the total package. He’s THE bluechip player of the 2025 rookie class.

Would I take Derrick Henry or Ashton Jeanty?

In a PPR setting, I'm taking the rookie, Ashton Jeanty, over Derrick Henry. Both are going to have insane amounts of volume, but Ashton Jeanty is likely the only one of the two who will be catching passes out of the backfield as an added bonus. Last season, Derrick Henry averaged under 1.5 targets per game with the Ravens.

There's no doubt that the Ravens are the better offense of the two teams, so if you're playing in a non-PPR league where touchdowns matter more, then I'd probably flip this choice.
