Finally! A normal-ish size slate for us to play around with.

As with any larger slate, there are a ton of ways you could go, leaving opportunities to find players to build around while still finding lower-owned pieces to pair with them among the rest of the player pool.

Here are three DraftKings DFS picks I'm considering in my lineups for Saturday, August 9th.

RB Woody Marks, Houston Texans

Rookie Woody Marks is expected to compete with Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale for running back depth behind Joe Mixon and Nick Chubb when both are healthy. But neither one of those guys are really pass-catching backs, while Woody Marks had that skill set on full display in college. I think there's a good chance we see some designed passes to both Marks and Ogunbowale, who is ahead of Marks on the unofficial depth chart right now, to start the in-game competition for who will win that role during the regular season. It could be a lucrative one.

WR Jordan Watkins, San Francisco 49ers

With injuries decimating the 49ers offense already, there's opportunity for depth players to step up and prove that they deserve a spot on the roster. One of those depth players, Jacob Cowing, also recently got the injury bug, and he was Jordan Watkins' stiffest competition for the WR5 role behind Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and Demarcus Robinson.

With little depth at the receiver position expected to play in this preseason game, I expect Jordan Watkins to get extended run, and he has the speed (4.37 40 yard dash) to take anything to the house.

WR Tai Felton, Minnesota Vikings

Jordan Addison just received a three game suspension, bumping Jalen Nailor, Tai Felton and Rondale Moore up the depth chart to begin the regular season.

The most important battle will be between Jalen Nailor and Tai Felton as the two receivers that have the most upside for that WR3 position. Rondale Moore, at this point in his career, is basically a known commodity - low ADOT, reliable hands, can move the chains especially in short to intermediate routes.

Either one of these two are fine plays today, but I'd expect a slightly more extended look at Felton, given he's currently behind Nailor in the competition.
