Field of Streams - Championship Week

For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.

The NFL changes quite a bit from week to week and year to year, I will try to help alleviate your concerns and focus on players that I would try and stream. This year more than ever (Thanks, COVID) will be difficult to Stream. Most leagues have expanded rosters, so this year, I will be looking at only players who are available in UNDER 50% of Yahoo leagues. All options may not be available in your specific league.

We made it, championship week! But first, let us review how you made it through the semifinals. Jalen Hurts, ladies and gentlemen. For those of you who were on the fence, Hurts’ 43.82 fantasy points were about equal to Carson Wentz’s last 3 games… COMBINED. Baker Mayfield was effective yet again with 297 yards, 2 Touchdowns, and 0 Interceptions. Dan Arnold’s 6.9 fantasy points and Jordan Reed’s 8.8 fantasy points kept you in the game, and both New England and Tennessee both finished as stream-able DST’s. Now, for the main event. Check out who is going to help you bring home the title, and as always, be sure to follow me on Twitter @jjgosh.

Championship Week's Streaming Beer of Choice: Hazy Rabit IPA, Lakefront Brewery

A healthy dose of flaked oats gives Hazy Rabbit its smooth, creamy mouthfeel while heaps of late-boil Idaho 7, Mosaic, and Citra hop additions saturate every juicy swig with ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavors.

Quarterback

Baker Mayfield @ NYJ, 47% owned

Mayfield has quietly found the form he had at the end of his rookie year. He is looking confident again and has scored 20 or more fantasy points in 4 consecutive games. He gets the Jets defense who just continuously gets beat through the air. Fire him up in Championship week with confidence.

Jalen Hurts @ DAL, 39% owned

League Winner – Jalen Hurts. He looked far better last week than Carson Wentz has all year. 40+ fantasy points is not an easy accomplishment, but now he gets an even softer matchup in the Cowboys. Hurts should be able to come through yet again and win you the Fantasy glory.

Mitchell Trubisky @ JAC, 12% owned

I always feel gross playing him, but Trubisky can be sneaky-effective. His rushing upside gives him a safer floor, and the matchup with an awful defense should increase his ceiling a bit.

Tight End

Austin Hooper @ NYJ, 48%

Well, if you are playing Baker, you might as well play Hooper. In his first game back from injury he saw 6 targets and found the end zone. One of the softer matchups against TE this year, Hooper could finally be the Tight End you drafted him to be.

Dalton Schultz vs PHI, 19% owned

Schultz’s volume has slowly decreased a bit, but he found the end zone last week and gets a depleted Eagles secondary to match up with this week.

Jordan Akins vs CIN, 4% owned

With back-to-back games with 6 targets, he is overdue to cash in with a Touchdown. Watson is still looking great in the post-Bill O’Brien era, so I like Akins to bounce back and produce in a plus matchup.

Defense/Special Teams

Houston vs CIN, 42% owned

This is no indication of the talent on the Texans, rather an indictment on the lack of talent on the Bengals. Regardless of who's starting at QB since Burrow's injury, Cincy has allowed most teams to tee off. Without Tyler Boyd on the field, there isn't much to be afraid of.

Philadelphia @ DAL, 27% owned

The Eagles, with all their issues on the back end, still have one of the more talented defensive line rotations in the league. With 8 sacks and 5 turnovers in their past 3 games, they could force Dalton into some mistakes.

Los Angeles Chargers vs DEN, 29% owned

The Chargers Defense is coming to life. Most drafted them to be their starting defense, but after a rough start, they are finally rounding into shape. 7 sacks and 7 turnovers in their past 4 games, they now get the best matchup possible in Drew Lock and the Broncos offense.

Stay tuned next week to see the results from all the players mentioned above, as well as my streamers for next week. Follow me on Twitter for more updates and insight @jjgosh
