Kansas vs Cal Baptist: Game Preview

Full disclosure, we at Bank Shot Brothers are KU alumni (Rock Chalk). Our alma mater has been in quite the predicament this year with the Darryn Peterson saga, but I hope they can pull things together to at least make it out of the first weekend. The East overall is looking like a tough draw.

I think the Jayhawks match up well here in their first matchup against Cal Baptist. The Lancers should play a strict drop coverage that tries to limit catch and shoots as well as looks at the rim. This most likely ends up being a Darryn Peterson and Melvin Council Jr. game with a sprinkling of Flory Bidunga as Council draws the defenders up top.

And yet, it's hard for us to consider anyone on the KU side with Darryn Peterson (theoretically) playing full minutes, on top of being away from Allen Fieldhouse.

On the Cal Baptist side, Dominique Daniels Jr. is the type of dream-crusher guard that shows up in tournaments year after year. Averaging over 23 points per game, he will try his best to put the Lancers on his back, but KU is a good defense that can switch through the entire lineup and soft hedges with Bidunga. When Cal Baptist scores less than 70 team points, which they're projected to do here, Dominique Daniels Jr. is 8-4 to the under of 22.5 points. Finally, there's something in the Kansas vs Cal Baptist game worth playing.
