Game Scripts
The Falcons are entering this game as uncomfortable 5.5 road underdogs with a low projected team total of just 19.5 points. The uncomfortable spread suggests a potentially pass-heavy approach while the low projected team total suggests limited touchdown opportunities. This is a solid spot to fire up the Patriots D/ST.
The Lions are entering this game as strong 8.5 point home favorites with a dominant projected team total of 28 points, the 5th highest among all 28 teams on the week 9 slate. The strong spread suggests a run-heavy approach while the dominant projected team total suggests endless touchdown opportunities.
Positional Matchups
After 8 games, the Patriots present a great matchup for TEs, allowing the 9th most catches, 5th most yards, 11th most touchdowns and 6th most PPR points per game. 6 TEs in 8 games — Brock Bowers, Mitchell Evans, Tommy Tremble, Dalton Kincaid, David Njoku, Harold Fannin — scored 11+ PPR points against the Pats. 4 of those guys — Bowers, Tremble, Kincaid, Fannin — each scored 15-18.
After 7 games, the Vikings present a mediocre matchup for TEs, holding them tot eh 14th fewest yards while allowing the 13th most catches, 7th most touchdowns and 15th most PPR points per game.
Kyle Pitts: Bottom Line
I expect Kyle Pitts to finish, on average, around 10–14 PPR points on ~6–9 targets (~4–6 catches, ~45–65 yards), and 0–1 TDs.
Sam LaPorta: Bottom Line
I expect Sam LaPorta to finish, on average, around 10–15 PPR points on ~6–9 targets (~4–6 catches, ~45–65 yards), and 0–1 TD.
Should you start Kyle Pitts or Sam LaPorta?
I have the projection on these two virtually identical. In those scenarios, I always try to tiebreak with starting your studs. I'd lean towards Sam LaPorta in this decision.
