Happy backup quarteback week to those who celebrate.

Personally? Not a big fan, but it's definitely going to make for an interesting week of DFS!

Not a ton of high-total games and a big glob of games all with similar totals, so there are plenty of ways to go this week.

Here are my week 3 DraftKings DFS picks & fades that I'm considering for my lineups.

Week 3 DraftKings DFS Stack of the Week

Chicago Bears - QB Caleb Williams ($5,600) + WR Rome Odunze ($5,300) + WR Olamide Zaccheaus ($3,400). Total stack cost: $14,300.

I'm expecting both Caleb Williams and Dak Prescott to be high owned in this game, given it's far and away the highest total game on the slate with a 50.5 over/under. That gives us three ways to play it:

  1. Play the chalk stack with the chalk players in the stack and get different elsewhere.

  2. Play the stack with some alternative players, then mix in chalk and differentiation elsewhere.

  3. Play the stack with some alternative players and get different elsewhere.

Options 2 and 3 in large-field tournaments both feel viable, so throwing Olamide Zaccheaus in as the WR3 hopefully decreases that total ownership enough that we can pretty much mix in whatever we want with the rest of our lineups.

Regardless of how you play it, if you're playing multiple lineups this weekend, you'll likely want this game in your portfolio.

Week 1 DraftKings DFS Picks

RB Jordan Mason, Minnesota Vikings ($5,400)

The chalk of all chalk this week, at least how I see it. It's simply a misprice. He's going to get the majority of the work for a Vikings team that will want to establish him early, going against a Bengals defense that I've recommended picking on before. Yes, both teams have backup QBs, so this total isn't inspiring, but it's a workhorse situation against a bad defense. He really should be $6,500 or more in this matchup.

WR Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts ($4,900)

Speaking of misprices, this whole Colts offense feels underpriced. Tennessee isn't the best matchup, but it doesn't scare me, and Daniel Jones has somehow looked great so far. As the WR 1a in this offense, Pittman has seen 13 targets on the season and has converted them into 10/120/1. For under $5,000, it's a great price for us to take advantage of.

Just like with Jordan Mason, there's probably going to be ownership here. But unlike with Jordan Mason, I'm fine pivoting off of Michael Pittman Jr. to other players to reduce ownership on an already chalky team. But if you've got a low-owned stack, or even are stacking the Colts, Pittman can be a priority.

TE David Njoku, Cleveland Browns ($4,100)

Both Cleveland tight ends are in play here, of course, but Njoku is likely to be the lower owned of the two at a slightly higher cost and lesser production on the season.

The Green Bay defense has been fantastic this season, which should scare away most people, but they've quietly been pretty below-average specifically to the tight ends.

  • In week 1 against the Lions, Sam LaPorta caught 6 of 9 balls for 79 scoreless yards (13.9 points) on a day where Jared Goff only threw for 225 and 1 touchdown.

  • In week 2 against the Commanders, Zach Ertz caught 6 of 8 balls for 64 yards and 1 touchdown (18.4 points) on a day where Jayden Daniels only threw for 200 and 2 touchdowns.

Getting a possibly lower-owned tight end in a sneaky upside spot feels like an area we could attack just to see if the trend holds.

Week 3 DraftKings DFS Fades

RB Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals ($6,900)

Chase Brown hasn't looked great so far this season, and while he's getting almost all of the backfield touches, he's now doing so with Jake Browning at QB. It's likely tougher sledding ahead, which is fine if the price was cheaper, but as the seventh-highest RB price on the slate in a lower total against a good defense, it's tough to see the upside case.

WR Kayshon Boutte, New England Patriots ($4,600)

This probably feels like me overreacting to his one target game last week, but it's more about the combination of a few things:

  • A likely gradual increase in looks for Stefon Diggs

  • The offensive design around their goal of spreading the ball out and being more run-first

  • Playing the Steelers, with a good defense and Aaron Rodgers wanting to play at the slowest pace possible

Can Kayson Boutte burn me in limited touches? Absolutely. But I think there are other receivers surrounding him that, to me at least, offer both higher floors and higher ceilings in their matchups, so if he's going to be somewhat popular - and my guess is he'll be at least decently owned - then I'll just be off him.
