Game Scripts
The Vikings are entering this game as slim 3-point road favorites with a decent projected team total of 23.75 points, the 15th highest among all 32 teams on the week 16 slate. The narrow spread suggests a balanced offensive approach while the decent projected team total suggests serviceable touchdown opportunities.
The Chargers are entering this game as slim 1-point road underdogs with a decent projected team total of 24.0 points, the 13th highest among all 32 teams on the week 16 slate. The narrow spread suggests a balanced offensive approach while the decent projected team total suggests serviceable touchdown opportunities. With a strong over/under of 49.5 and both teams sporting top 13 projected team totals over 24 points, Chargers @ Cowboys looks like a potential shootout with no shortage of touchdown opportunities or fantasy football fireworks. This is a game you want exposure to in your week 16 lineups.
Positional Matchups
The Giants look like a mouthwatering matchup for RBs, allowing the 2nd most rushing yards, 6th most catches, 11th most receiving yards, 5th most touchdowns, 2nd most PPR points per game and most PPR points per touch (1.08). That said, they've been a bit "boom or bust" at the individual level...14 RBs in 14 games have scored 10+ PPR points against the Giants, but just 6 of them have been able to reach 15+ PPR points against the G-Men.
The Cowboys present a solid matchup for RBs, holding them to the 15th fewest rushing yards while allowing the 5th most catches, 2nd most receiving yards, 11th most touchdowns, 7th most PPR points per game and 5th most PPR points per touch (0.99). 12 RBs in 14 games scored 10+ fantasy points against the Cowboys.
Aaron Jones: Bottom Line
I expect Aaron Jones to finish, on average, around 10–14 PPR points on ~12–16 touches, ~60–85 scrimmage yards, 2–4 catches, and 0–1 TD in a matchup that can pop for RBs but hasn’t been consistently kind at the individual level. He's a mid-range RB 3/flex with RB 2 upside in this mouthwatering matchup. That said, if there was ever a week to try Aaron Jones this season in a pinch, this is the one.
Omarion Hampton: Bottom Line
I expect Omarion Hampton to finish, on average, around 13–17 PPR points on ~15–18 touches, ~70–90 scrimmage yards, 3–4 catches, and solid receiving-based TD equity in a potential shootout. He's a low-end RB 2 with high-end RB 2 upside in this possible shootout and friendly matchup.
Should you start Aaron Jones or Omarion Hampton?
This doesn't look like the pinch that would make me throw Aaron Jones in my lineup. It's likely Omarion Hampton continues to add to his workload, and this game environment and matchup is one I want to target overall.
