Can RJ Harvey and JK Dobbins both provide value for fantasy football in 2025?

RJ Harvey

After drafting RJ Harvey in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, it was all but presumed that he would take over the majority of the work in the backfield, with holdovers Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime as the only competition behind him.

But then, in June, the Broncos brought veteran JK Dobbins into the fold on a one-year deal, coming off a season where he had over 1,000 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns.

Will there be a clear winner in this backfield, or can RJ Harvey and JK Dobbins both be worth their fantasy football draft picks in 2025?

Sean Payton has a history of successfully utilizing multiple running backs - with massive success - throughout his 20 NFL seasons as either an Offensive Coordinator with the Giants or as a Head Coach with the Saints and now the Broncos. In fact, Sean Payton led offenses have supported two running backs in the top 35 of final fantasy football scoring in 14 of those 20 seasons.

In addition...

  • His offenses have finished 16th or higher in rushing yards in 13 out of 20 seasons.

  • His offenses have finished 16th or higher in rushing TDs in 14 out of 20 seasons, including 12 of those reaching the top 10 and 7 reaching the top 5.

  • 13 RBs finished inside the top 11 in 20 seasons.

  • 34 RBs finished inside the top 35 in 20 seasons.

RJ Harvey and JK Dobbins can — and will — co exist in 2025 fantasy football leagues. And both guys carry legitimate RB 1 upside if something happens to the other.
