Game Scripts
The Chargers are entering week 6 as 4.5 point road favorites with a solid implied point total of 24.5 points, the 11th most among all 30 teams playing this week. The favorable spread suggests neutral-positive game script and a balanced offensive approach, while the above-average implied point total suggests plenty of opportunities for touchdowns and fantasy football fireworks. This is an offense you want exposure to in week 6.
The Rams are entering week 6 as confident 7.5 point road favorites with a strong implied point total of 26 points, the 7th most among all 30 teams playing this week. The favorable spread suggests the Rams will be playing with a lead, positive game script that could result in elevated rushing volume — potentially at the expense of passing volume — as the Rams look to salt the clock away in the 2nd half. Still, the strong implied point total suggests plenty of touchdown opportunities and fantasy football fireworks. This is an offense you want exposure to in week 6.
Positional Matchups
After 5 games, the Dolphins present a friendly matchup for QBs, holding them to the 16th fewest passing yards but allowing the 10th most passing touchdowns, 4th most rushing yards, most rushing touchdowns and 3rd most fantasy points per game (23.99).
After 5 games, the Ravens present a mouthwatering matchup for QBs, bleeding the 3rd most passing yards, most passing TDs (2.6 per game) and 2nd most fantasy points per game (24.79).
Justin Herbert: Bottom Line
Expect Justin Herbert ~18–23 fantasy points on ~35–38 pass attempts, ~250–275 yards, and 1–2 TDs with ~25–35 rushing yards.
Matthew Stafford: Bottom Line
Expect Matthew Stafford ~19–24 fantasy points on ~34–38 pass attempts for ~285–330 yards and 2–3 passing TDs with negligible rushing.
Should you start Justin Herbert or Matthew Stafford?
What a great problem to have! Both of these guys are among the best QB plays of the week, so you're not going wrong with either. But I'll give the slight edge to Matthew Stafford on account of the matchup being extremely QB-friendly.
