Mason Taylor Rookie Profile

Mason Taylor — a 21 year old 2nd round pick from LSU — does everything well but nothing elite. He had a strong Senior Bowl showing and has great NFL bloodlines — son of Jason Taylor and nephew of Zach Thomas, both of which are in the Hall of Fame. Taylor is expected to be a move TE but is capable inline too.

The landing spot is terrific, likely walking into a starting role in a Jets passing attack that lacks any true receiving weapons behind Garrett Wilson. Taylor could legitimately be the number 2 option in New York's passing "attack" (lol) as early as week 1.

Game Scripts

Buccaneers at Falcons projects as a potential shootout, as their 47.5 point over/under is tied for the 2nd highest among all 16 games on the week 1 slate. There's plenty of fantasy football upside to this contest. That said, the Falcons' implied point total is a sliver below average — 22.5 points is tied with the Lions for the 14th lowest total on the 32 team slate — suggesting a modest output from Atlanta's offense. Meanwhile, the narrow spread suggests a close game and neutral game script that will feature a balanced approach from both offenses. The Falcons are neither an offense to target nor avoid with difficult week 1 decisions. They're a perfectly ""fine"" play in week 1.

Steelers at Jets projects as a tight, low-scoring game. The narrow spread points to a neutral script, but both teams sit in the bottom nine for implied points, so touchdowns will be scarce. The Jets in particular have a devastatingly low implied point total — 17.5 is tied for the FEWEST among all 32 teams playing in week 1 — so expect any fantasy value to come from volume and yards rather than scores. Neither offense is one you should feel the need to force into your week 1 fantasy football lineups. That's especially true for the underdog, low scoring Jets.

Kyle Pitts: Bottom Line

Low-end TE1 with volatility in a high-scoring game. Expect Kyle Pitts ~8–13 PPR points on 4–6 targets; the path to 15+ is a red-zone TD layered onto a couple chunk plays. Yardage-friendly matchup (Tampa Bay allowed heavy TE yards last year), but they limited TE TDs; modest team total and thin Michael Penix rapport trim the floor.

Mason Taylor: Bottom Line

Desperate but streamable TE2 with sneaky volume potential. Expect Mason Taylor ~6–10 PPR points on 4–6 targets as the likely No. 2 option behind Garrett Wilson in a low-scoring game; path to 12–15 PPR points is a red-zone TD or a 7–8 target bump given Pittsburgh’s TE-friendly profile.

Should I start Kyle Pitts or Mason Taylor?

For me, the decision is clear: I would start Kyle Pitts.
